Painting the space between object and atmosphere.
Contemporary paintings of tablescapes and landscapes, where form, colour
and composition shape emotion, memory and narrative.

Jo Mitchell Long is a contemporary British artist whose practice moves fluidly between abstraction, landscape, and still life. Beginning with abstract explorations of colour and form, her work evolved into expressive landscapes before arriving at her recent tablescapes series. Across these interconnected bodies of work, she explores atmosphere, memory and ritual through place, object and composition. Her paintings are concerned with how form, colour and structure can hold emotion and narrative. She exhibits in London and beyond and will be showing at Affordable Art Fair Hampstead in May 2026.

"I build worlds out of colour, form and composition-whether in abstraction, landscape, or the poetics of everyday objects" JML

"My practice moves from the expansive to the intimate- from high energy abstractions and landscape, to the table as a stage for human presence and ritual" JML

"My paintings boldly take up space and spark connection. I love knowing that when my work takes its place on a wall, it brings energy, presence and a dialogue that lasts long after the first glance" JML
